Construction

Navarro Canoes are completely hand crafted. It takes approximately 25 hours over a five day period to build one Navarro. We still use the traditional methods of construction while integrating the highest quality materials currently available.

Our hulls are hand laid-up using multiple layers of unidirectional cloth placed at various angles to increase rigidity. By using this type of cloth, we are able to increase the glass to resin ratio, thus giving us a stronger hull without adding weight. We also offer our most popular models in a lightweight Kevlar lay-up. The process we use allows the Navarro hulls to have sharp entry lines and elegant contours not achievable by machine molding. We use only the finest gelcoats and vinyl ester resins.

All Navarro hulls are reinforced with select cherry wood ribs. These wooden ribs add strength and beauty to the canoe. The wide variety of grain patterns assures individual character for each canoe we build. The ribs are thoroughly sealed with resin and a final layer of fiberglass is placed in the floor of the canoe.

The upper structure of all Navarro Canoes is crafted from select hardwoods, then oiled and hand-rubbed to a fine finish. The seats are laced with the same nylon used for three generations and are large as well as durable. All Navarro Canoes carry a limited lifetime warranty.

From the selection of materials to the final product, pride and attention to detail are taken at every step. This meticulous process creates a canoe which offers the beauty and warmth of wood, but requires no more maintenance than any other wood-trimmed boat.
